TALATÍ DE DALT (II)

In the second part of the 3rd millennium a little group of shepherds and farmers settled down in the area of Talatí. Archaeologists have found some pottery from this period in buildings that pertain to a more recent age. Between the end of the 2nd millennium and the beginning of the 1st, the first houses were constructed and the activity continued until the Roman conquest at 123 BC. About the 1st century AD the decay of Talatí is already a fact, even though there are still some villagers remaining until the end of Islamic domination of the island, in the 13th century.

The splendour of the village is held between the 4th and the 2nd century BC, when the Carthaginian merchants from Ibiza supplied every Balearic community with all types of goods, developing a very profitable economic exchange for more than 300 years.
